Reelcast captures your screen, remembers every click, and turns the take into a polished walkthrough: it zooms where you work, glides the pointer, frames it on a backdrop and exports in a couple of clicks.
Free · macOS 14+ · Apple silicon & Intel · How to open it the first time
Every recording opens in an editor that already has a first cut. Change anything; the preview renders exactly what you’ll export.
Clicks close together become one zoom block that eases in, follows the pointer and eases back out. Move, resize or delete blocks on the timeline.
The real cursor is left out of the capture and redrawn from its logged path, smoothed, resized and with a ripple on every click — or hidden.
Gradients, solid colours or your blurred wallpaper, with padding, rounded corners and a soft shadow. 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3 or the source shape.
Record your microphone with the screen, and an optional camera bubble — circle or rounded square, any corner, any size.
Drag the trim handles, cut out a stumble, or fast-forward the boring part at 1.5× to 8×. The final length updates as you go.
H.264 MP4 at 720p, 1080p or 4K and 30 or 60 fps, or a looping GIF for docs and chat. Show it in Finder or copy the file straight to the clipboard.
Press ⌥⌘R for the floating recording bar. Choose a display or a single window, switch the mic and camera on or off, and start after a 3-2-1 countdown.
Click through your product as usual. Reelcast quietly logs where the pointer goes and where you click. Stop from the menu bar or with ⌥⌘R again.
The editor opens with zooms already placed. Adjust the look, fix the timing, then export. Recordings live in ~/Movies/Reelcast, one folder each.
macOS requires it for any app that captures the screen. Reelcast shows a short guide with a button that opens the right pane in System Settings. It only records while the recording bar shows the red dot.
Yes — use Import Video. Backdrops, framing, zooms you add by hand, trimming, cuts, speed and export all work. The smooth pointer and click-based zooms need the pointer data that Reelcast records itself.
No. Recording, editing and exporting all happen on your Mac. The only network request is the optional update check.
In ~/Movies/Reelcast, a folder per recording with the raw movie, the pointer log and your edits. Exports go to ~/Movies/Reelcast/Exports unless you pick another folder.
